Care Home Visiting Pod – Case Study
CARE HOME VISITING POD – A CASE STUDY
Cube Modular brings Worcester Lodge Care Home’s residents and families together with a flat-packed FP10D care home visiting pod.
THE BRIEF
In December 2020, Cube provided Worcester Lodge Care Home, part of the Osborne Care Community, with a dedicated care home visiting pod. With the advent of the pandemic, visits were initially taking place in a dedicated room which meant that visitors had to pass through the main care home building. As government guidance on visiting changed the home felt that the risk posed by visitors coming into the building was unjustified and alternative arrangements needed to be explored.
CLIENT: Osborne Care Community
VENUE: Worcester Lodge Care Home, Somerset
PRODUCT SUPPLIED: FP10D (flat-packed care home visiting pod)

Cube Modular’s visiting pods offered the perfect solution:
- Visits take place in a dedicated external building, so visitors do not need to enter the care home itself
- The care home could furnish the pod themselves and make it personal, comfortable and homely
- The size of the pod is generous
- It was very easy to have it installed in the car park
- Wheelchair ramps made access easy for residents
We were also selected as the chosen supplier due to the fact that Osborne Care Community were enamoured with Cube’s company ethos, our pricing was attractive and offering a short lead time meant that the pod would be in place in time for the busy Christmas period.

THE RESULT
During these challenging times, it has been very important for Worcester Lodge to find a solution where families could be connected and reunited in a safe, secure and risk-mitigating way. Cube’s care home visiting pod has been extremely well received by staff, residents and visitors alike. On the home’s private Facebook page for relatives of residents, many have expressed their delight and gratitude by posting thank you messages and sharing photographs with the group.
Joshua Slator, Director at Osborne Care Community, shared with us the following story:
Janet Cover, whose husband Tony is a resident a Worcester Lodge, said that visiting the pod for the first time was lovely and she cried happy tears. “It was wonderful”, she said “so much better than a window visit.” Tony was also very comfortable and very happy to see Jan. Janet can’t thank Worcester Lodge enough for all the care the home is giving to her husband.
“The FP10D pod has been an incredible addition to the home to allow safe and secure visits for families. It is spacious, easy to get up and running and to kit out with our own furniture to make it homely. Without doubt it has made a difference to people’s lives in the run up to Christmas. The intercom is easy to use and clear for people to hear. The ramps make access simple. Could not be happier!”
