Cube Delivers Sustainable Event Infrastructure to Formula E’s London E-Prix

They call today Super Sunday. Our sister company, Cube Partnership, has recently come back from the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA, and its team is now fully involved in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games where the sports action is thrilling millions every day. Then there’s the England Lionnesses and the German football team who will be playing in the Women’s European Championship final at Wembley later today. And here we are, together at the London ExCeL Centre with our sister company Cube Management, fully involved in supplying and installing the event infrastructure for one of motorsport FIA’s most thrilling races, the Formula E London E-Prix.

Proud and delighted to be involved for the second year running, and hot on the heels of our involvement at the Monaco E-Prix earlier this year, Cube provided 109 units to this year’s London event, including the build of an accreditation centre, a broadcasting complex and a fully equipped two-storey race control building.

The race control building, a complex project in itself consisting of ten double stacking units, included partitioning walls added throughout the race control rooms, a medical centre, and full air conditioning installed within each unit.

The entire Formula E project was a challenging project due to the timescales given: the Cube Management team only had 72 hours to build the race control building and broadcasting centre – a total of 99 units all of which needed to be configured very differently.

Prior to the install, Cube’s expert in-house design, delivery and installation teams worked hard on the project’s meticulous planning and design to ensure all plant, units and materials were on site within plenty of time to meet the tight deadline.

Cube Management’s Project Coordinator, Harry Lonsdale, who led the install said: “We absolutely love, and are used to, working on projects like these, with tight timeframes and deadlines, but it has undoubtedly been a tough challenge. Delighted to say that the 17 crew members, experts in their field, gave their all, worked solidly for 3 days and finished the job in time to allow for a smooth handover to the event organisers a week before the event. Congrats team. Great job done!”

Let the race begin…!

Cube Launches Sustainable Pop-Up Ticket Office Pods

Cube Modular recently launched a sustainable pop-up ticket office solution for events. The versatile aluminium frame and air-cell pods feature two customer facing ticketing windows and can be folded down and stacked for efficient and eco-friendly transport.

The innovative pods made their debut last weekend at the Formula One British Grand Prix, hiring out event radios to visitors to the famous Silverstone circuit. In total, nine ticketing pods were installed around the venue, one at each entrance, each fully branded and liveried to advertise its event radio hire purpose. Cube also transported 14 sleeping pods from the same range, as 2 bed accommodation units for staff, on the same truck.

“The clever design of these pods makes them very attractive to event organisers looking for a sustainable pop-up solution”, said James Lauchlan, Sales Manager at Cube Modular. “They can be put up virtually anywhere and used as ticket offices, information booths, security cabins or any other type of customer contact point.”

Thanks to the pods’ flatpack design, up to 40 units can be transported on a single truck, achieving huge savings in both transportation costs and carbon footprint, compared to using traditional fixed frame portable ticket offices.

The pods are created using a bespoke aluminium extruded frame system with steel substructure featuring an integral levelling foot system and inflatable air-cell wall panels. The sliding doors are lockable and the pods come with integrated colour adjustable LED lighting and a USB power point.

Cube Wins Hire Industry Product of the Year at Hire Awards of Excellence 2022

Cube Wins Hire Industry Product of the Year at Hire Awards of Excellence 2022

Cube Modular is delighted to announce it has won Hire Industry Product of the Year for its flagship modular portable buildings. The award was presented at Hire Association Europe’s Hire Awards of Excellence Dinner on Saturday night at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s prestigious Park Lane.

Cube’s winning product impressed the judges with its ‘innovative solution, reduction in transportation costs and the environmental impact’.

Cube has the exclusive distributor rights for Continest unique foldable cabins for the UK and Ireland as well major international sporting events globally. Continest cabins are the most sustainable temporary portable accommodation solution available to the sports, events and hire industries worldwide.

Folded flat and stacked for transport and erected on site in just a few minutes, these innovative units provide robust and flexible temporary infrastructure for any venue, enabling events to reduce their CO2 and GHG emissions by up to 80%, compared to using traditional fixed framed cabins.

“This is another feather in our cap and it’s great to see the sustainability and innovation of the brilliant Continest portable building system consistently recognised”, said Brandon Weston, MD of Cube Modular Ltd. “Cube’s innovative Continest CN20 and CN10 products were developed to enable the hire industry to reduce the carbon footprint associated with the transportation and storage of temporary portable buildings by up to 80%.

Reducing carbon footprint is a key priority for festivals, sporting and other major events, so the demand for more sustainable products from suppliers is on the increase. Travel and transport specifically has consistently been found to make up at least 80% of a typical event’s carbon footprint, with transportation of building infrastructure contributing significantly due to the size of the structures.

Collapsing and stacking the units means that a single truck can transport 10 CN20 units or 20 CN10 units as opposed to the five trucks required to transport the same number of traditional standard cabins. The patented hinge is very easy to operate using just a special hand tool but provides an extremely safe building of superior quality. These unique temporary buildings can be folded down or put up in 5-10 minutes by a single operator with a forklift truck.

The Hire Industry Product of the Year award is sponsored by The Hire Exchange who presented the trophy to Charles Littlefair, Commercial Manager at Cube.

An impressive solution. The entry demonstrates a credible cost saving and greener result which will reduce Co2 emissions and allow venues to be up and running much quicker, bringing even more agility to fast moving and demanding markets.

Cube Modular has won a contract to supply its award-winning Continest foldable container buildings to four England Golf championships this season. “We’re really looking forward to working with England Golf to minimise the carbon footprint of this season’s events with our unique foldable portable cabins”, said Brandon Weston, MD of Cube Modular. “Our award-winning units provide high quality, versatile buildings that can be folded down and stacked, reducing transport C02 emissions and slashing haulage costs.”

James Crampton, England Golf’s director of championships, commented: “In everything we do as a championships team, the environmental impact of our work is now carefully considered. By choosing Cube Modular for office solutions at several of our key, large-scale events we are going that one step further to make sure that our carbon footprint is as small as possible.”

England Golf’s national amateur squads compete on a world stage and previous alumni include modern-day professionals Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Bronte Law and Georgia Hall. The four events Cube will be supplying units to are: the Brabazon Trophy (Saunton Golf Club), European Men’s Team Championships (Royal St George’s Golf Club), English Amateur Championships (men and women at Lindrick and Worksop Golf Clubs) and the English Women’s Stroke Play (Beau Desert Golf Club).

Cube’s Continest CN10 units will provide offices for organisers and staff at each of these championship events. They can also be jointed together to create larger open-plan spaces or multi storey buildings.

England Golf is the governing body for the club and amateur game in England and administers the game on behalf of around 1,800 affiliated golf clubs and 647,000 golf club members. The championships team stages over 50 tournaments each season for elite amateur and handicap club golfers.

Cube Modular to Showcase New Sustainable Event Hotel at The Event Production Show 2022

Cube Modular, part of the Cube International group, will be demonstrating its new Event Hotel and Snoozy Glamping Pods at The Event Production Show 2022.

The Event Hotel is a brand new concept for the 2022 festival season and constructed using the company’s award-winning eco-friendly Continest foldable buildings and wetcell technology. It can accommodate up to 40 people in 20 bedrooms, each with ensuite bathroom; a complete eco-friendly accommodation solution. The entire on-event hotel structure, consisting of twenty CN10 units and ten innovative wetcell dual ensuite bathroom units, is transported on just two trucks, leading to a massive reduction in carbon footprint.

Alongside its unique Event Hotel, Cube is now also offering Snoozy Glamping Pods for event rental. These stylish, lockable cube-shaped units offer secure, luxury sleeping accommodation for festival-goers. The aluminium and steel frame and aircell patented structure folds for storage and transport and features raised flooring, lighting and USB power.

The Event Hotel is the latest addition to Cube’s Continest range of foldable buildings, the most environmentally-friendly event solution which provides robust and scalable buildings for box office, dressing room, staff office, retail, catering and other temporary building needs.

“We are now a one stop temporary accommodation provider for festival and event organisers due to our expanding range of unique building solutions”, said Brandon Weston, MD of Cube Modular. “We offer a complete sustainable event infrastructure, including pop up shops, bar and catering units and offices, as well as our new sleeping units, which are in great demand following a successful inaugural season last year.”

Event organisers renting Continest units for their temporary accommodation building needs can make big savings on transport costs, reduce carbon emissions, and achieve their sustainability goals. Through innovative foldable technology, the units are designed to be folded down and stacked for transport and storage. Ten CN20s (10x20ft) or twenty CN10s (20x10ft) can be transported on a single truck, thus enabling a reduction of CO2 emissions by 80% compared to fixed portable building systems.

Cube Modular is the UK and Ireland’s exclusive distributor of Continest and can be visited at Stand TS01 at The Event Production Show on 8-9 March, ExCel London Exhibition Centre.
