Ready to make an impact! Cube fully prepared for the Rugby League World Cup

With less than a week to go, our team is getting fully prepared and ready for the Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021). Following a year’s postponement due to Covid, the RLWC2021 will be the first ever World Cup to combine the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments, with 61 matches in over 36 match days held across 21 different stadia in the UK.

As RLWC2021’s Official Retail Partner, the Cube team has built its product proposition around the tournaments’ official branded suppliers including replica jerseys from the thirty-two competing nations, complemented by additional ranges of Cube-designed own-label collections. The official merchandise collections have been available on the Cube-operated official RLWC2021 online store since September 2020.

The onsite retail programme will be managed by the Cube Management team in terms of retail structures and retail operation, utilising our very own retail and merchandise units. A total of nine Continest units, with full counter fit, roller shutters, full internal shop fit outs and branding, will be utilised and moved around across the venues, as well as 5 wooden booth internal structures. Cube will also be re-branding existing stadium and venue shops from which official merchandise will be displayed and available for sale. For maximum installation and operations efficiency, Cube Management will be basing its on-event logistics team in Oldham for the next two months where units will be built, stored and transported to and from each of the venues.

The Cube retail team, including 5 managers and 170 sales assistants, will be managing three retail teams across the venues and duration of the tournaments to effectively retail and fully operate the RLWC2021 Official Merchandise at the Official Stores at all stadia and venues.

Brandon Weston, Cube Modular’s MD, said: “It’s great to see our sustainable retail units being utilised at this major, global and celebrated event. It’s another fabulous demonstration of just how versatile Cube Modular’s range of units are, and how they are able to be transported from venue to venue in a short space of time. A true showcase of their incredibly flexible nature!”

Andy Smith, Cube’s Retail Director, said: “We’re thrilled to be involved in the RLWC2021, the pinnacle event of rugby league. We’re all set and can’t wait to get our team on the ground. The onsite retail programme may be complex, because it includes the three tournaments in one combined schedule with 58 stores at 21 venues and over 170 staff, but we’re really looking forward to being part of its legacy and making it the ‘biggest and best’ Rugby League World Cup ever.”

Harry Lonsdale, Cube Management’s Project Manager, added: “A lot of preparation has, and is, going into the planning of this world-renowned event. With the busy logistical nature of the tournaments over the different venues, Cube Management is looking forward to showcasing the different retail outlets and merchandise propositions it can offer, both internally and externally, and its recognised operational expertise.”

Cube Modular designs and manufactures modular portable buildings and containers of exceptional design, quality and functionality for sports events, venues, stadia and businesses.
