EUROFINS Testing Centres in Asda Car Parks – Phase II Complete

Since the beginning of the summer, Cube has partnered with ECTS to bring convenient and reliable COVID-19 testing facilities to British holiday-makers. The testing centres are available at various ASDA car parks across the UK, with phase II now complete. ECTS is part of the Eurofins Group, the global leader in bio-analysis and laboratory testing.

Eurofins chose the Cube Continest system due to its innovative building technology, whereby each unit can be folded down and stacked for transport and storage, thus enabling a reduction of CO2 emissions by up to 80% compared to fixed portable building systems.

A total of 30 sites are now fully available, with more sites due to be installed in the coming months. The initiative offers the potential for Brits to return to travel with a hyper-convenient ‘test to depart’ service, helping to relieve the stressful admin of testing procedures as the desire to return to travel increases.

We have partnered with ECTS to bring convenient and reliable COVID-19 testing facilities to British holiday-makers, available at various ASDA car parks across the UK. ECTS is part of the Eurofins Group, the global leader in bio-analysis and laboratory testing.

Alongside a new hybrid fuel cell system which uses stored power to generate electricity for the pod, substantially reducing generator use, the project also makes use of Continest – our unique, foldable building solution. Utilising innovative building technology, the units can be folded down and stacked for transport, thus enabling a reduction of CO2 emissions by up to 80% compared to fixed portable building systems. Available in two sizes, transport allows ten CN20s (10x20ft) or twenty CN10s (20x10ft) to be transported on a single truck.

With at least 10 sites already installed, and a further 20 sites due to be installed in the coming weeks, the initiative has the potential to ease Brits into their return to travel with a hyper-convenient ‘test to depart’ service. Up to 50 sites have been agreed upon, with the potential for further expansion, helping to relieve stress as a return to travel ramps up.

Locations of the 10 existing testing pods include ASDA sites in: Ashford, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Falmouth, Hereford, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Swansea, Wheatley and Yeovil.

Wales To Welcome 33 Cube Modular Visitor Pods At Care Homes Across The Country

Over the next few weeks Cube Modular will be spending a lot of time in Wales, delivering visitor pods to care homes in almost every corner of this beautiful country. The team is currently brushing up on its Welsh name pronunciation skills, finding those without vowels particularly tricky!

The 33 pods are being rented for six months under a Welsh government scheme which enables care homes to offer COVID-secure visits in a comfortable setting outside their main buildings. The temporary buildings have all been built to meet government grant criteria, including two separate entrances, wipeable flooring and a floor-to-ceiling screen partition inside.

The deliveries comprise three different Cube visitor pod models, all of which include ceiling lights, electric heaters, power sockets and a speaker and microphone system with hearing loop.

FP10D Pod: Where space isn’t an issue, our 6m long FP10D offers the most generous proportions.

SVP Purpose Built: Our bespoke SVP pod can be configured with alternative door positioning to suit differing layouts of care home sites.

GRP35 Pod: The most recent GRP model is also the smallest, with 2.2m width instead of 2.4m. If access is an issue it can be assembled on site.

Cube’s Welsh pods have all been treated with an anti-microbial coating covering internal surfaces to give additional COVID-19 protection for a minimum of three months.

Some care homes have already got plans in place to purchase or extend rental of their pods at the end of the six month period, and will eventually re-purpose them for professional appointments such as podiatry, or as therapy rooms, garden sitting rooms etc.

In England care homes may also be able to claim funding, at their local authority’s discretion, under the recently announced extension of the Adult Social Care Infection Control funding, depending on the criteria which has yet to be announced for Round 3.

Lockdown and the Coronavirus Pandemic – A Year On

At the start of 2020, with the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic, the event innovations team at Cube responded to the need for the sporting community to reduce risk of transmission through enhanced hand hygiene measures whilst communicating public health messages at events.

The result? Cube’s ‘Don’t Pass It On’ hand sanitiser station initiative.

Within the space of less than a week, our hand sanitiser stations were designed, manufactured and installed at Twickenham for the Six Nations and at the Cheltenham Gold Cup, providing the event organisers with a simple method to support hand sanitation for visitors, staff and guests in order to try and help mitigate the spread of Covid-19.

Since then, and during lockdown, our range of hand sanitising stations have been adopted by a range of businesses and venues, including the NHS, airports, the rail network, mainstream supermarkets as well as sports grounds, stadia and clubs.

Cube has continued to innovate throughout the pandemic, responding very quickly to develop and supply modular building solutions including temporary COVID test processing laboratories, care home visitor pods, and portable vaccination centres and testing centres.

It has been a challenging time for everyone and we’re proud of what we have managed to achieve. Some of our solutions will no doubt be in demand for some years to come if not for the long term. After so many cancelled events and competition behind closed doors it is a real pleasure to be receiving so many enquiries about our event solutions as organisers prepare to welcome back the public.

On Saturday 5th September, Harlequins welcomed 2,700 season ticket holders, chosen by ballot, for the first time since the beginning of the coronavirus lockdown. The selection of The Stoop as a host venue followed a detailed assessment of submissions by Premiership Rugby to the Government’s Department of Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS).

Working closely with the relevant authorities, Harlequins ensured extensive measures were put in place, in line with government guidelines, including the promotion of hand hygiene through the use of Cube Modular’s event hand sanitising stations.

The Gallagher Premiership rugby clash against Bath Rugby was the first rugby match with a crowd following the launch of a series of pilot events throughout elite English sport for the return of spectators.

Ahead of the game, Head of Rugby, Paul Gustard, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming Bath to The Stoop as we are privileged to be the first club to have crowds back in the stands. It is reflective of the progressive nature of the Club and testament to the work of our staff behind the scenes to see this pilot event take place.”

To ensure the event was held to the highest safety standards for all attendees, stewards made sure social distancing was adhered to everywhere in and around the stadium, with supporters only able to sit in the seat allocated to them. Facemasks were also compulsory, except when eating or drinking. Fans were able to use a QR code to order their food and beer from their seats, with cashless payments implemented.

Cube’s rugby-branded ‘Don’t Pass It On’ event hand sanitiser stations utilised at the Harlequins’ ground were first seen across the road at Twickenham Stadium in March at the Six Nations. Available on an event rental basis, similar hand hygiene-promotion stations are being deployed during the COVID-19 outbreak at sports venues and events across the UK, including Premier League football clubs, England Cricket test matches and well-known racecourses.

Additional safety & welfare measures in place at The Stoop included advanced ticket bookings, ID and temperature checks on arrival, the filling in of health questionnaire forms as well as providing details for the track and trace system.

If pilot matches like these prove to be successful, the government hopes to allow fans to return to watching live sport by October.
