Cube showcases its global Infrastructure and Retail expertise at the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France

Entrusted by renowned sports brands, teams and major sporting events and rights holders, Cube has brought its on-event retail and infrastructure expertise to the Rugby World Cup in France, delivering to all venues.

The Cube team installed a mixture of its own award-winning merchandise units, rebranded existing venue units, and brought new fully branded tented structures. The structures were set up and installed at stadium venues and fan villages at all nine venues and within city centre locations. The units offer fans and spectators a seamless live experience where comprehensive official merchandise offerings are available across the board.

“We are very excited to be partnering with the official merchandise supplier of the RWC France 2023, Legends, providing the very best service and retail structures to Rugby World Cup fans through world-class and innovative shopping experiences in stadiums and city centres around the country,” Andy Smith, Cube’s Retail Director, said.

“In total, within a minimum amount of time, we installed 63 of our sustainable and award-winning retail units. We also delivered twelve 10x5m tented structures, as well as rebranded existing stadium structures in nine stadiums and eight fan villages across France. Our logistics team has done an amazing job ensuring the four build teams that were needed to deliver everything on time, did a seamless job.

“With de-rigs now starting at RWC2023 stadiums no longer in action going forward, our job is to make sure everything is removed on time and according to schedule.”

The R&A boosts sustainability credentials with Cube’s temporary infrastructure

Cube has had another busy summer installing pop up temporary buildings for championship tournaments at golf clubs around the UK for The R&A, a leading body within the world of golf whose aim is to engage in and support activities for the benefit of the sport. Altogether Cube installation teams delivered 92 units to 12 venues, including 20 for the 49th edition of the prestigious Walker Cup at St Andrews.

Cube’s portable cabins were deployed as temporary infrastructure to support the popular championship matches. The 6m and 3m units served a multitude of purposes, including:

  • box offices
  • scoring booths
  • media offices
  • medical and first aid bays
  • recording and digital content units
  • gatehouses
  • meeting rooms
  • stores, shops and retail units
  • personal offices for chief referees, Chairman of Championship and tournament directors.

The flexibility of Cube’s portable build system means that where required, units can be joined together to create larger open plan offices and meeting rooms as well as multi-storey complexes.

Harry Lonsdale, Project Manager for the event, said: “We were able to offer a highly efficient, sustainable delivery service since most venues required between 5 and ten units, which could all be delivered on one truck.

“Folding and stacking our unique units enables clients to achieve up to 80% reduction in carbon emissions associated with transport, boosting their sustainability credentials.”

Cube Provides Formula E With Temporary Portable Infrastructure for a Third Consecutive Year

The team at Cube were excited to be back at the ExCel London for a third consecutive year, providing the London E-Prix with a plethora of sustainable modular buildings to be used for an array of different facilities.

In total, Cube supplied more than 85 of its award-winning foldable cabins at this year’s championships, which included the build of a broadcast and medical centre as well as a two-storey race control hub.

Further foldable containers were installed for use as commentary booths, media and editing suites, offices and other admin centres. The team also installed 2 temporary kitchen structures, both with vinyl flooring, in collaboration with West Country Marquees. The kitchens were 12x27m and 9x9m in size, both equipped with running water, waste supply and air conditioning. The team completed the whole installation of all the structures within just five days, using only forklifts and jibs.

Harry Lonsdale, Project Manager for the event, said: “This is our third year working with Formula E now and each time just gets better and better! Everything went very smoothly; the team did a great job, and the client was super happy. We’re looking forward to returning in 2024!”

This year’s race saw Jake Dennis become the 2022/23 ABB FIA Formula E World Drivers’ Champion and took home the trophy for Britain for the first time ever. Jake is the first to take the title on home soil.

Promoting London’s Newest Tourist Attraction

Last weekend (7 -10 April), Cube Sight & Sound made its way to Leicester Square, London, as part of a new activation to promote Monopoly Lifesized, a brand-new challenge attraction in London.

Monopoly Lifesized, based in Tottenham Court Road, has been created to bring a new way to play the planet’s favourite board game. A physical 4D experience whereby competitors have 80 minutes to move around a giant board completing challenge rooms to buy properties, using state of the art technology.

Cube was contracted to provide a promotional unit for the attraction in London’s busy Leicester Square over the Easter weekend. Utilising one of our unique Sight & Sound units, consisting of a pop-up retail unit with a large 6m x 3m LED screen on top, the fully branded unit drew in the crowds, consisting mainly of young adults and families, to whom leaflets were given to promote the new attraction.

James Lauchlan, Cube’s Project Manager, said “Such an exciting activation to be a part of! Like most people, having played hundreds of games of Monopoly throughout my life and now getting involved with a Lifesized version of the game was brilliant. It was great having the unit in Leicester Square seeing the crowd being drawn in by the screen infrastructure and with a photobooth set up, all the fun of this classic game was incorporated via an interactive touch.”

OFFICE INSTALLATION

New Offices installed at RR warehouse, including bespoke spiral staircase

Rolls Royce collaborated with Cube for a second year in a row, in order to add an additional unit to a pre-existing unit to create a 2-storey office space at its warehouse in East Grinstead.

The bespoke unit, which was built with additional windows to give clear visibility to the workshop floor, was built in a very tight space. The new office, required to be built under a gantry, needed Cube’s planning expertise to make sure the installation would take place as smoothly as possible.

Once the team had completed the onsite build successfully, the unit was then skilfully moved into place with a forklift, navigating various obstacles across the workshop floor.

Once the unit was in place, heating and cooling systems were then installed to both office units. The team also installed a bespoke spiral staircase to access each of the offices.
