Cube Modular builds COVID-19 screening test facility at Gatwick Airport
A new COVID-19 screening test facility at Gatwick airport, built by Cube Modular, went live today.
Within the new facility, ExpressTest, a division of Cignpost Diagnostics Ltd and Gatwick airport’s official screening partner, will offer fast and accurate tests for Gatwick passengers and employees, as well as the general public. Located within the airport’s Long Stay Car Park at the South Terminal, the screening site was built in record time by Cube Modular using Cube’s popular foldable Continest containers.
Brandon Weston, Cube Modular’s MD said, “Since the beginning of the year, the Cube International group has been actively finding ways to help reduce the spread of the Coronavirus. After our very popular ‘Don’t Pass It On’ hand sanitiser initiative, which became an overnight success at businesses and venues across the UK, and our Care Home Visitor Pods, which are being installed at care homes up and down the country to ensure safe visitations between relatives and residents, we are delighted our portable buildings are also being used as Covid-19 screening test centres, including this facility at Gatwick airport.”
At the newly-built screening centre at Gatwick, pre-departure and post-arrival screening tests are available for Gatwick passengers, as well as for staff and local residents. The test results will be made available the next day. Plans are also in place for the screening facility to satisfy post arrival requirements for the Government’s expected “test and release” scheme which will ease travel restrictions and quarantine time.
Cignpost Diagnostics and Gatwick Airport announced the opening of the new COVID-19 screening centre at a press launch on Friday 27th November 2020.
Stewart Wingate, Chief Executive Officer, Gatwick Airport, said: “Reducing the spread of COVID-19 is a priority for us alongside giving confidence to so many people who have missed travelling during this difficult year. Our new screening facility is also a convenient service to offer people in the region looking for extra reassurance. We are pleased to be subsidising the price for our passengers and any staff based at Gatwick so they are compliant with current destination requirements that many of airlines including easyJet, British Airways and TUI fly to.”
ExpressTest Founder Nick Markham added: “We are delighted to be Gatwick airport’s official screening partner. We launched ExpressTest to give people peace of mind, whether that’s enabling travel through our Fit to Fly certificates, or providing the reassurance needed to safely visit friends and family abroad or within the UK. In the next couple of months we aim to have more than 30 locations operating across the UK, with the ambition of giving the British public the confidence to go about their daily lives in these uncertain times.”
